Shimano Dirt Series
Mountain Bike Skills Camps for Women
Following an ultra-successful introductory year, the Shimano Dirt Series Women's Skill Camps are doubling in number, adding some incredible new coaches, and setting up for an excellent 2002 season.
This year the Series travels right across the province, stopping in Victoria, Vancouver, Kelowna, Kamloops and Panorama Mountain Village. All camps run for two full days, Saturday and Sunday, and include first-rate technical skills instruction and hours of practice on the trails.
Expect to learn all the cycling essentials, from proper braking and shifting, to riding a straight line, cornering, managing drop offs, pulling off manuals, and clearing all kinds of obstacles, cleanly. Expect also to get heaps of information on bike maintenance, training, resource stewardship, and general trail preparedness
and of course to have great amounts of fun.
The camps are open to women aged 16 to 116. As participants are split into groups according to skill level, anyone from a rider with a minimum of
off-road experience to a seasoned veteran is welcome to attend.
Coaches for the coming season include Elladee Brown, Candace Shadley, Cindy Devine, Sylvie Allen, Penny Deck, Kelli Sherbinin, Daamiann Skelton, Michelle Dumaresq, Claire Tomlinson, Linda Robichaud and Andrea Kraft.
The cost per camp, including lunch both days, is $145. Participation is limited to 35 per camp, so if you are interested in maximizing your mountain biking confidence and enjoyment, not to mention seeing your skills go through the roof, please register soon. The Shimano Dirt Series is run in partnership with Cycling BC, hosted by bike shops around the province, and supported by PowerBar and Sugoi.
