Sunday, June 8th make your way out
to Hartland. We will be officially opening our
Technical Training Area, and will have M&M
Meats on hand for some barbeque action! You want to see
some technical riding? Mike Trials will be there
for an amazing show of bike handling finesse. And since you’ll
be there anyway, bring your bike, go for a ride on the excellent
trails at Hartland. If you’re new to the area, we’ll
make sure you get a great tour of the mountain bike park. (All ages
welcome!)
Keep your eyes open for our poster for more details
coming soon to your friendly, neighborhood bicycle shop.

WE NEED YOUR HELP FOR NEW RIDING OPPORTUNITIES
AT THETIS LAKE (April 21st, 2003
CRD Parks has released the draft management plan for Thetis Lake/Mill
Hill/Francis King Parks and is requesting feedback. (Note!! The
new deadline is end of April.) Now is your chance to let CRD Parks
know what you think about this plan to change trail access. Several
user groups are blaming mountain bikers for damage to parks and
we need to speak up about our responsible use of trails and our
need for trail access.
WHAT YOU CAN DO
Print out the response form on pages 9, 10, 11, and 12 contained
in the CRD
Summary and Feedback Form. (1.9 MB PDF)
Use your **OWN WORDS**, to cover these IMPORTANT POINTS:
1. Like most cyclists, you are responsible and respect the trails
and the environment.
2. Explain your dissatisfaction that mountain bikers are prohibited
from riding on most trails now.
3. Why more areas suitable for mountain bike use should be opened
for bikes.
4. Keeping riders off unsuitable trails will only work if there
are adequate places for you to go that meet your needs.
5. Your needs are for single track on challenging terrain, and trail
connections between riding areas.
6. You will work to educate riders about responsible cycling.
MAIL IT TODAY!
