SIMBS Launches New Trail Map

SIMBS Launches New Trail Map, November 26, 2005!!

An exclusive launch party at the new location of Chain Chain Chain Cycling Services, 1419 Broad Street was the perfect venue for SIMBS to debut its new map. This new format, 11 x 17 will fit easier in your hydra pack and now includes many favorite trails that were missing on the old map.
"This updated look along with more accurate trail data is the perfect fit for those wanting to know their way around the Hartland Mountain Bike Park" said James Brown President of the South Island Mountain Bike Society. Many retail shops will be stocking these so look for your copy starting November 28, 2005 in local retail shops

Volunteer for SIMBS!

Thanks for all the replies to this request!

We have had a few volunteers step up to help SIMBS keep on top of our membership Database and to keep the Mud News mail outs running smoothly, one of which will be taking on this job in the new year. We also would like to thank the volunteers who will be helping out with the web site, the classifieds and the forums this coming year.
Sincerely
SIMBS

Important: SIMBS 2005 Survey

Interested in telling us a bit more about yourself and riding habits? We are looking for info on where, when, what and how often you ride, as well as your input into the job SIMBS is doing. This info is not personal info, just generic stuff to help us get an idea of who you are and what you want from SIMBS. We will be taking all of your info and putting together some stats on the riding public in Victoria and area.
This will help us better serve you as well as to give us some hard numbers to pass along to the CRD.
If you wish to take part in this survey, please fill in the blanks on this form and e-mail it to rene@simbs.com. Thanks for your time!

SIMBS Advocacy Group Meeting

At our August Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) we committed to announce in September a meeting date to discuss land access. We have booked the community room at the Victoria Police Station Thursday, October 13th, 7 PM.
Those of you who attended our EGM and expressed a desire to see more land accessible to legal mountain biking should attend. This will be your opportunity to be directly involved in the future of mountain biking on South Vancouver Island.

As a refresher, areas looked at as being desirable were:

1. West Goldstream
2. East Sooke Park
3. Mt. Doug (.seriously)
4. Hartland to Thetis corridor
5. Urban Area Parks
6. Partridge Hills
7. Tzouhalem
8. Harbour View in Sooke

We will need to develop a strategy to effectively lobby for these and other areas, that is what the October 13th meeting will be about. I urge all who want more places to ride to attend.

James Brown President
South Island mountain Bike Society
