Information Needed ASAP on Hartland Parking Lot Vehicle Damage!! (Posted May 28, 2005)
This was sent to SIMBS on Friday May the 27th, please read below and contact Nelson should you have ANY information on this incident!

Hi Greg,
My name is Nelson Ko. I see the SIMBS forum is down, but I was wondering if it's possible to post somewhere else to ask the mtb community for help. I sort of need it quickly, if it's available.

I was riding at the dump tonight (Friday May 27th) and my Jeep Grand Cherokee was smashed pretty bad. Whoever did it just rammed into it straight on from their own parked position right in front of the washrooms. There were alot of people up there drinking tonight (Fri May 27th), and I presume it was one of them. The security guard saw a brown toyota pickup leave the scene, and that's the paint I have left on my totalled rear door. The Security guard said it happend at 7:30pm (we started at 7, and got back at 8:30). It says something that my car was left untouched by the remainder of the riding community that night for an hour (I had some things of value in the back... anyone could have easily reached into the smashed rear window and pulled things out). My friends and I were just shocked that whomever hit my car didnt have that same sense of fraternity.
Anyway, both the police and ICBC are interested in finding this guy. I meet with them next week regarding this incident. If there's anyway to put this request up, I would appreciate your help.
Thanks,
Nelson

SIMBS first annual bike expo and consignment sale a success (Posted May 4, 2005)
SIMBS held its first annual bike expo and consignment sale on April 23 at the Cedar Hill Recreation Centre. The entire SIMBS board wishes to thank all sellers, buyers, browsers, and new members for making this event a success. SIMBS signed up over 30 new members, and brought in over $1,000 from consignment sales, T-shirt sales, and memberships. This will help us a lot toward meeting out funding needs for our new (and more pricey) insurance policy. See you again next year!

Temporary Insurance - Expires August 31st!! (Posted April 11th, 2005)
SIMBS relationship as stewards of Mount Work Hartland Regional Park is still in jeopardy. Our insurance costs have soared by more than double over last year. Unless SIMBS can raise $3500 to $4000 by August 31st, the park will revert to CRD management. This will likely mean the closure of cycling access to the park. If you regard having an area for legal cycling access important for recreation, we strongly advise you to support SIMBS by becoming a member. Save Hartland, Join SIMBS!

Important Notice - Simbs Has Temporary Insurance!! (Posted April 16, 2005)
As of April 11, 2005, SIMBS secured a general liability policy until August 31, 2005. This now permits SIMBS to resume the license agreement with the Capital Regional District for the maintenance of Mount Work Hartland Regional Park. All activities such as monthly trail maintenance and group rides can now continue, this also includes park use permit applicants.

I must stress that as of August 31st SIMBS will need to raise an additional $3500-$4000 on top of the $1650 already paid to maintain insurance over the next year. This is a huge increase over last year's total insurance fees of $2000. Therefore, we must increase our membership and find ways of generating the additional revenue by August or risk losing Hartland. We are not out of the woods yet.

Save Hartland, Join SIMBS!

Sincerely,
James Brown
President
