SIMBS 2001 ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING MONDAY JAN 15, 2001 - YOUR CHANCE TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE
7:00 pm at the Commonwealth Pool. SIMBS elections, draw prizes, awards, featured speakers, refreshments. We invite you to come and have a say in the direction of SIMBS in 2001. Positions are opening up on the board, hear a parks planner talk about the future, see the plans for the Technical Training Area.

NEW PARKS PLANNER TO SPEAK ABOUT ACCESS TO TRAILS
Come to the AGM and hear Don Watmough of CRD Parks as the featured speaker at this years AGM. We have asked him to speak to us because CRD is in the midst of writing their Master Plan for new Park that contain the most public land suitable for trails. What better way to learn about the issues that relate to mountain bike access to trails than to hear it from the bureaucrat that makes the recommendations to CRD.

We will hear about CRD's view of potential conflicts with other user groups. We will learn about the environmental issues that affect which user groups get access to what land. This will determine which trails we get to ride for the next five to fifteen years!

BIG TURNOVER IN SIMBS BOARD COMING
Up to half the board positions will come open this AGM. The President., Vice president, Treasurer, and Secretary, positions are open. Some of the incumbents will be running again but there is a good opportunity to get involved and affect the direction of SIMBS.

What do you want to see SIMBS doing? Check out the board job descriptions at http://WWW.SIMBS.COM/simbsinf.htm

TECHNICAL TRAINING AREA - APPROVED PLAN EXPLAINED

Now that the TTA is approved, we'll be explaining its design, and what is needed in terms of materials, equipment and manpower. This will be an excellent opportunity to get involved. Take on a part of it!
