WHY JOIN SIMBS
OR
HOW I TURNED MY TWENTY BUCKS INTO SIXTY SIX FIFTY)
March 15, 2001
So what do you get for your $20?
First off, it gets you advocacy, it gets you representation at municipal
and CRD meetings, and lobbying with a voice of many to any body that has a
say in access.
It got the Lower Island its first legal mountain biking
area, Mt.Work/ Hartland Park. It maintains your Park. It gives Island
mountain bikers a place to ask questions, voice opinions, and get help when
the issues come up.
We thought you might like to know how SIMBS spends your twenty bucks:
- $8.50 of your $20 membership is spent directly on the trails through tool
purchase and buying hearty lunches for the trail volunteers;
- $10 of your $20 is spent keeping the paperwork going. Copies, web page, phone etc.;
- $15 of your $20 is spent printing the newsletter, buying envelopes and putting it in the mail, and running the website.
- $33 of your $20 is spent on helping members out when attending Trail
Conferences, insurance for SIMBS and its board against suits (so we can
have the Hartland stewardship). It paid for putting on dances, the AGM
costs, and it covers SIMBS memberships in Cycling BC, Trails BC, and IMBA.
